First things first. I’m not your typical chiropractor, and you’re not going to get a typical chiropractic experience at my office. I’m a specialist with almost two decades of experience combining myofascial massage therapy with chiropractic adjustments. I’m trained to provide both traditional and trauma-informed myofascial care.
Myofascial massage therapy is a highly effective technique that eliminates muscle tension and pain, restores proper range of motion, and frees your body to move in the way it was designed. It also works directly with your nervous system which provides greater health and wellbeing for your entire body. If you experience pain, stiffness or tightness due to hormone changes, weight gain, pregnancy, chronic stress and/or trauma, my comprehensive sessions will help soothe and heal you on a deep level.
No matter what level your muscle tension and pain is coming from, myofascial massage therapy can help.
What To Expect From Care
My work as a myofascial therapist is intuitive and organic. Every treatment naturally shifts based on your needs—leaving you feeling truly taken care of. If you are looking for a provider who is purely academically, scientifically or technically focused, you will not be happy under my care. If you instead are searching for a healthcare provider who offers healing, intuitive touch while working within an evidence-based framework, you will love my unique approach to myofascial care.
There are three components that guide patient care at my office: technical expertise, clinical experience, and intuitive wisdom.
- Technical Expertise — My technical expertise comes from the rigorous academic training of chiropractic college and my myofascial massage therapy training.
- Clinical Experience — I’ve treated thousands of patients over the years which adds a great deal of wisdom to my knowledge base. This allows me to compare and contrast what I’ve seen work (and not work) in the past and use this information to provide better, more comprehensive care for every patient.
- Intuitive Wisdom — Sadly neglected and largely ignored by the vast majority of healthcare providers is our natural God-given intuition. I am by nature an incredibly intuitive person, and I’ve worked diligently over the years to develop intuition as a skill. This is a huge part of effective myofascial treatment, and it sets me apart from other providers in my field.
This three-pronged approach provides a well-rounded, balanced treatment that yields great results and feels great, too.
What is Myofascial Massage Therapy?
Myofascial release massage is highly therapeutic, targeted technique that is similar to a combination of deep tissue massage and trigger point therapy.
Most patients say that myofascial release massage “hurts so good”. In other words—it feels great! On occasion however, some find the technique too intense. While my work is deep and targeted, it is not intended to be a torture session. It’s intended to be a healing, therapeutic experience for your body, so if you feel pain or find yourself holding your breath during a session, please speak up. I’m happy to use lighter pressure.
Another important note: I have learned over the years that patients who have metabolic, inflammatory, and/or autoimmune diseases, experience higher levels inflammation during and after treatment. These patients have a heightened red response (meaning their skin gets really red during their treatment and stays red and inflamed for an extended period of time). I can literally feel heat radiating from these areas. I will let you know if your body has a heightened red response during the therapeutic process as you will likely feel sore post-treatment.
Please communicate in your new patient exam if you have an active disease process that may affect your care.
What are Spinal Adjustments?
Spinal adjustments are performed by licensed chiropractor who use their hands to apply a controlled force to a specific joint segment (per Mayo Clinic). While chiropractors can adjust any joint in the body, we mainly focus on adjusting the pelvis and spine. I only adjust restricted or under performing joints. Joints that are healthy and moving well will be left alone. The goal of an adjustment is to improve the movement of your spine and the overall physical function of your body.
You are free to opt out of spinal adjustments (aka chiropractic manipulation) at any time. Please communicate your needs with me.
