Myofascial Therapy Austin

Welcome to Myofascial Release Austin | Dr. Misty Funk, DC. I am a highly skilled and experienced myofascial release specialist dedicated to helping you achieve optimal wellbeing through the healing power of touch. I offer the following services: myofascial release massage, medical massage, deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, lymphatic drainage massage, chiropractic care and more.

I have offered a specialized combination of myofascial release massage and chiropractic care for the last 18 years. The majority of my patients are highly stressed professionals who are too busy to look endlessly for a soft tissue technique that works. I commonly treat muscle tension, neck and shoulder tightness, lower back pain, tension headaches, and TMJ pain.

Myofascial Release Austin provides deep, targeted, corrective care designed to combat pain, muscle tension, and fascial adhesions. The technique is similar to a combination of deep tissue massage and trigger point therapy. It focuses on correcting muscular imbalances, as well as addressing your fascial and lymphatic systems—two of the most under-treated systems in the human body. These areas are often overlooked even by the most astute musculoskeletal specialists, but they will not be neglected here.

Myofascial release is ideal for those who:

    • Travel frequently
    • Can’t sleep due to pain
    • Experience chronic stress
    • Sit at a computer (or desk) all day
    • Suffer from muscle tension, stiffness or pain
    • Endure chronic illness, autoimmune or inflammatory disease
    • Have trapped emotions or trauma which create pain in the body
    • Are challenged by the lingering physical tension from being in the wrong career, job, or relationship
    • Experience body aches due to perimenopuase, menopause or postmenopause symptoms and other hormone-related challenges
    • Desire preventative services and optimal health and wellness

Finally, Myofascial Release Austin offers deeply restorative care. Some patients use their sessions solely to correct physical imbalances and adhesions that form in their muscular and fascial systems. Other patients discover that hormonal changes, chronic emotional stress—even trauma—contributes to the tension they feel in their bodies. No matter what level your tightness and pain is coming from, a myofascial massage session allows you to slow down, focus within and heal on a deep level.

Come work with me.

It would be my great joy to support you!

Special Note: My work primarily focuses on reducing myofascial tension, tightness, and pain. If you have degenerative joint disease, degenerative disc disease, a disc herniation or spinal nerve impingement, my work will not be of great benefit to you. I do not get solid results with knee problems. In addition, I am unable to treat the inguinal area, pubic region or your pelvic floor (internal) muscles. These areas are out of my scope of practice.

Please contact me if you have questions about your particular concern.
